The Trident Shambles by John Ainslie
The UK government's plan to renew Trident is not only politically controversial, it is also in a state of chaos. The proposal was agreed by Parliament on the basis of unrealistic cost estimates. The project is running late and the in-service date for the new submarines has been put back from 2024 to the early 2030s. The whole defence nuclear programme has been mismanaged for years.
